Skilled Nursing Skilled nursing services provide health care and mediation management as well as education to clients requesting the service or deemed eligible. These services include a complete nursing assessment upon admission to the program by a registered nurse. Services also include referral to physicians as needed on an individual basis for routine follow up or in the event of medical emergency or sudden illness. Nursing services will implement special treatments and /or medications prescribed by a physician, as well as complete venipuncture as ordered, provide monitoring for efficacy, and/or adverse reactions and assist in medication set up. A nurse will be present during individual sessions with the client's psychiatrist to take medication orders along with reporting any medication issues. Also included is general physical assessment and prevention of de-conditioning. A registered nurse is available for the client twenty-four hours a day in the event of medical emergency or crisis intervention. Documentation is completed on the appropriate forms by the nurse and reviewed by case management. Nursing coordinates care and treatment with services within the company and/or outside providers. These include case management, psychology, dietary, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical equipment providers, neurology, optometry, dental, orthopedic, etc. Nursing Services provides assessment and care within the residential and day habilitation setting. Staffing - includes a Nursing Director, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and medical assistants. Nursing Services oversees the immunization program for the company as well as infection control monitoring and education.
